Cyphesis 0.5.7 Release
Cyphesis version 0.5.7 has been released and is now available from the WorldForge download site.
Cyphesis is a small to medium scale server for WorldForge games, with builtin AI. This version includes the demo game Mason which is currently in development. This release is intended for server administrators wishing to run a Mason server and World developers developing new worlds or game systems.
Major changes in this version:
- Some tasks fundamental to construction have been implemented allowing characters to use tools to modify the world, and track the progress of these tasks in the client. Characters can now build a stockade by felling trees.
- Combat system has been reworked to remove most of the bugs, and it now works cleanly.
- Many activities in the world now trigger animations in the client.
- A number of security checks and improvements have been implemented.
- The server no longer fails if it temporarily loses contact with the database.

It is SEAR version 6.1-1. I don’t see any config files in my /.sear directory.

Mark,
The errors which are preventing sear from running are those related to GLX. It looks like you don’t have OpenGL set up on your system. If you have ATI or NVIDIA hardware it is likely that you will have to download binary drivers from their site. If you do have OpenGL drivers working and can confirm this using a test program like glxgears, let us know and we should be able to investigate what else might be causing the problem.

Yes, I have been playing games like X-Moto and Planeshift with my Geforce4. I have the 7174 drivers installed from Mepis/Ubuntu.
Also there are no files in this directory at all:
Varconf Error: could not open configuration file “/home/Mark/.sear//general.cfg” for input.
Also: Thanks for the help and your models just look amazing for the game. Can’t wait to start playing.
I hope your quests are much more complex then the bland quests from Star Wars Galaxies and World of Warcraft which are made to be easy so they make more money. Simple addictive quests are stupid. bah.
I just got so mad at the simplicity of them I wanted to try out an open source MMORPG like Planeshift to see if they made a real game with some decent difficulty and am satisfied so far. It’s not set up like a shopping mall at least.
It seems if they aren’t looking to make gobs of money then they will try to challenge the player. At least your world looks mature.

Sorry for the rant in there. I tried to separate it better. Well it still isnt creating any .sear files in the directory like it’s supposed too. i will trod on over to the forum for more help.

Sorry I haven’t got back to you earlier. Can you try dropping into our irc server on irc.worldforge.org and join #coders? If you can get there, look for me, Simon or James, and ask about your problem.
