A binary package for Ember 0.5.3 is now available from here. DirectX 9.0c needs to be installed for it to work.

In addition to that, we now provide a development package for win32, to be found here.

The main reason for providing the development package is in the hope to find someone to maintain the win32 port, which currently has to be done by me. All main development however occurs on Linux. The development package can be used to more easily setup a compilation environment on windows. In order to do this you will need both the MinGW environment and Code::Blocks. The development package contains further documentation on further needed packages.

Note that we only provide this package for win32, since Linux systems normally provides all required tools needed for easy compilation through their packaging systems. More information on how to compile Ember can be found on the wiki.

All main development of Ember occurs on Linux, so the Win32 port is not guaranteed to be as stable. If you experience any problems, please report them, preferrebly to the bug tracker.

Ember version 0.5.2 has been released and is now available from the WorldForge download site.

Ember is a 3d client for the WorldForge project. It uses the Ogre 3d graphics library for presentation and CEGUI for its GUI system.
This release adds a totally rewritten foliage system which allows for addition of efficient and natural looking foliage such as bushes and plants. In addition to that a new imposter system has been added, allowing for scenes with large forests. A lot of smaller bugs and glitches have been fixed, and the gui has been tweaked to behave more intuitively. Note that if you compile from source, you will need to install the media too, either by using the “make releasemediarsync” make target or by installing the content of ember-media-0.5.2.tar.bz2 to PREFIX/share/ember/media Also note that this version requires CEGUI 0.6.0 and libwfut 0.2.0.
Changes:

new foliage system allowing for expansive forests and vegetation

support for imposters

ability to save login information

large number of updated meshes and textures

lots of bug fixes

This version can be downloaded from the sourceforge download site, at the following locations:

ember-0.5.2.tar.bz2

ember-media-0.5.2.tar.bz2

ember-0.5.2.x86.package

We currently only provide precompiled packages for Linux system, but will provide Windows packages in the near future.

Note that if you compile from source, you will need to install the content of ember-media-0.5.2.tar.bz2 to PREFIX/share/ember/media

If you compile Ogre yourself make sure to disable FreeImage (–disable-freeimage).

More information can be found at the Ember site.

All bug reports should be posted at the Launchpad.
