New male media in Ember

Tuesday, July 25th, 2006

I’m trying to get a new version of Ember out, hopefully this week. In the meantime I want to show some screenshots of the new male mesh that Jayr has been working on. By using the model definition system in Ember, it’s possible to define different “parts” of the model, such as “/torso/cloth/green” or “/torso/cloth/red”. [...]

Updated Sear 0.6.2 Binary for OS-X

Wednesday, July 12th, 2006

I’ve just uploaded an updated Mac binary of Sear 0.6.2 to SourceForge. This should hopefully resolve some of the crashes people have experienced. In particular, re-sizing the window, and changing into / from fullscreen mode now works correctly. This release will work on computers running OS-X versions 10.3.9 and 10.4.x, including Intel-based Macs, but is [...]

Getting the castle into the system

Friday, April 28th, 2006

It has taken a lot of mangling, bug fixing, and even some new features, but I have finally got xrenmilay’s excellent keep model into the system. Here is a view in sear of the keep placed in a quiet valley in Moraf, just to the east of the pig sty.

There are still some client bugs [...]

A Simple to Use Map Format for Cities and Dungeons

Friday, January 20th, 2006

A problem slowing the creation of maps is that there are no easy to use tools for doing it. There is a building editor in Ember, and although it is quite flexible, it is not yet very intuitive to use, and operates on a quite detailed level.
So here’s a suggestion for a very simple [...]

Will the real settler please stand up

Saturday, December 31st, 2005

Looking at the logs on some of the WorldForge game servers made available for public use, I have noticed many errors from users trying to create characters of types which do not exist. Examples include human, knight, dwarf and elf. Clearly given the number of errors we have made a serious mistake in the user [...]
